Flinders Island Car Rentals began operation 30 yrs ago providing car rental for the visiting tourist and working professional to Flinders Island. Justin and Rowena Nicholls purchased FICR in March 2005 and have grown the business from a hire car fleet of ten to seventeen by also purchasing Bowman-Lees Car and Mini Bus Hire in 2006.The car rental business has expanded to include a dual cab Ute, deck chairs, small and large eskys, car seats and booster seats for hire. Our business goals are to provide punctual friendly service, honest local knowledge, up to date tourist information and ensure each hire car maintains a high standard of presentation and maintenance. Flinders Island Car Rentals are on call 24hrs a day for customers that require assistance and we aim to improve the quality of rental car offered for hire regularly.

Justin is a Flinders Island local having lived on the Island for over 30 years growing up on a sheep farming property, he enjoys both beach and boat fishing, diving for crayfish, game hunting, and getting off road in his four wheel drive. Being a local, Justin knows the best fishing spots and which bait to use, where to catch a crayfish or who to buy one from. He watches the weather map daily and can supply all the local information essential for tourists and visiting professionals alike.
Rowena is a blow in, born in Tasmania and growing up in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Having travelled throughout New Zealand and much of the East coast of Australia, she has called Flinders Island home now for the last 9 years. She is slowly earning her place as a local, marrying Justin in 2004 helped although she has not gained an island nickname yet. As a 3rd generation Islander, having visited Flinders a lot as a child she enjoys many of the islands more leisurely pursuits like beach and bush walking, swimming or just sitting watching the sun go down over the water.With a background in hospitality and a growing love of Island life, she provides an outsiders point of view, with good knowledge of walking tracks and safe swimming beaches.
In March 2009, Justin and Rowena introduced a new member to the family their son Mitchell. Flinders Island Car Rentals also employs Mr. Ed part time to wash, detail and help with delivery and pick of hire cars. Together they all make up the Car Rental team along with their three dogs Bella (a spoilt Staffoshire, prone to licking customers), Bob (the senior Springer Spaniel is deaf and blind) and Jet (big black Labrador and boss of the yard).
