Flinders Island Information

 Things Only an islander would know that will make your holiday to Flinders Island a sucess
  • Wave to passing motorists
  • The Southern Rock Lobster (crayfish) season begins on 15th November and closes in September. Killiecrankie Enterprises sell cooked or live crayfish during most of the season. In order for the crayfish to be fresh as possible please order in advance – at least a day before it is required.
  • Book accommodation early in summer months
  • Book a table for meals just to make sure you don’t have to wait to long.
  • If travelling here around Show time (Friday 15th of October 2010) and Christmas make sure you book early
  • There’s a baggage limit of 15kg with Airlines of Tasmania so if you think you need to bring over extra baggage phone the airline before hand. 
  • Check the weather forcast before you pack, warm days can be very warm sitting on a sheltered beach and cool windy days very cold as you walk around the Trousers Point area with the exposed track. Visit Elders Weather
  • If you are arriving Sunday there are no meals in Whitemark and the supermarket isn’t open so you will need to arrange with your accommodation to have some provisions bought for you in advance. Check the business opening hours
