The New Years Eve celebration for Flinders Island was held at the Furneaux Tavern at Lady Barron. It could be described as the high light of the year for some or it’s just another occasion for the community to get together and have a couple of cold ones. Which ever way you see it 2010 went out with a BANG for the island.
The Furneaux Tavern has held the New Years Eve celebrations for the past few years now so they know how to organise a fantastic night.
The entertainment for the evening was a 4 piece band from Launceston. The night started with a duet with the lead singer and the guitarist. They set the mood for the evening singing songs like Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton, Bad Romance by Lady Gaga and I Want you to Want Me by Letters to Cleo.
The setting outside the Tavern is defiantly a little bit country with hay bails and picnic tables for seating which made a comfortable and relaxed setting for the rest of the evening.
Once everyone had come out of the bar, the band started up for the night, rocking out to the old classics and busting a move to the newer more modern songs. Everyone started dancing and the drinks kept flowing, everyone was having a great time and before we knew it, it was time to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! And the kissing and hugging came out in force. Everyone in the community defiantly had a terrific night of celebrations and we certainly partied hard for the year we just left behind.
