As you enter Whitemark on Lagoon road, you will find Flinders Island bakery situated on the left hand side of the street. As you walk into the bakery, the smell of the freshly cooked bread fills the air. The display is filled with cakes made fresh every day, and the pie warmer is filled with award winning pastries such as; Plain Beef $3.80, Mushroom $4.00, Onion $4.00, Lamb/Curry $4.40, Chicken/Corn $4.40, Wallaby Pie $4.70. The friendly staff will greet you as you enter. Eat in or take away, the bakery is open from 8am till 5pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am until 12pm.

Mutton Birding Flinders Island

Just a quick reminder that mutton bird season is open from the 2nd April 2011 until 17th April 2011 on Flinders Island.
Just remember if you don’t have a mutton birding licence then please visit your nearest Service Tasmania Shop or their website to obtain one. A mutton birding licence will set you back $27.20 for a full fee or $21.75 of a concession fee. When purchasing a game licence you should be aware that all hunting season dates may be subject to change at anytime.

Well, we are almost home. We are just awaiting the all clear after my op. in Melbourne to head home to Flinders Island. (July 19)
We had a wonderful gourmet food & wine tour of France, Italy & Switzerland. We think we have picked up a few great food ideas to inflict upon you guys (us fellow flinders islanders).
Vistas on Trousers Point will be open for bed & breakfast from July 23rd.
Vistas Cafe & Chappell’s Restaurant will reopen on Saturday August 7.
