Music in the Vines Flinders Island

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Music in the Vines for 2012 was a big success! Numbers seemed to look like they were down on last year, but that didnt stop everyone from having a fantastic day.

I have heard a lot of great things about the food and beverages on the day and what i tasted was very nice so to all who cooked and kept us all happy, you all deserve a big pat on the back.

The musician that kept everyone entertained all day did a beautiful job and i hope to see you all next year.

A big thanks needs to be said to Bev and Roger Watson owner, operator of the Unavale Yineyard. You guys have put on another relaxing day for us all to enjoy and i am sure the people of Flinders island and visitors really do appreciate it every year, so Thank you!

Now lets all start preparing for next year and i hope to see you all there!!

Music in the Vines Flinders Island

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick reminder Music in the Vines is on this Saturday 14th January 2012 at 2pm onwards.

Come along and listen to some great music, eat locally made food and drink some fantastic wine and beer from stalls available on the day.

The owners of the vineyard have asked for no glass to be in the vineyard on the day, so if you are planing on bringing any drinks with you then please stick to plastic bottles and cups, so bring a chair and/or a rug and sit back and enjoy the day.

We look forward to seeing you all there on the day.

On Saturday 15th January 2010 Unavale Vineyards held their annual Music in the Vines, Flinders Island. Music in the Vines is held in the vineyards of one of the only wineries on Flinders Island.

The Event started at 2pm and kicked off with the Butter Factory Boys, some of the islands local talent. With their happy, theatrical music playing away with the islanders and tourists in the mood for some good food, beer, wine and company.

The vineyard was starting to fill up quickly when another local band Nautilus started to play. The smell of crayfish pies and lamb curry filled the air and the beer was flowing at a steady pace. Nautilus played some country rock and blues classics which got the crowd fired up for the rest of the evening.

Next to perform were Jamiee Warren and Grace Walker. Jamiee sang a few songs and was accompanied by Kathleen Ives-Heap, the music teacher on Flinders Island. After Jamie sang with the most amazing voice for a young girl I’ve ever heard, she called up Miss Grace Walker to the stage to accompany her on the piano with Hallelujah. Again Jamiee’s voice stunned the crowd and a large cheer went out for the two girls.

A large consumption of food, beer and wine had gone on by this time of the day so everyone was cheerful and couldn’t wait to get dancing and singing along with the bands.

The next part of the entertainment for the evening was another local band the Ratstars. Playing modern music and a few oldies, the crowd was defiantly starting to fire up.

Everyone had consumed more than enough food and alcohol to sink a small ship but that didn’t stop the day from rolling on.

Finally the entertainment from Tasmania was ready to get on stage. Unavale Yineyards had organised for Cameron Tapp to attend the event. Cameron had a much laid back feel about him but had a voice that would blow you away.  Singing classics and just playing his guitar Cameron gave the vines that festival feel.

Towards the end of the day Nautilus played another round of songs and had everyone dancing. To finish the evening Ratstars finished off with a guest appearance from one of there old band members Sean Caris, who was very pleased to come back and play, (for old time’s sake).

Everyone had a fantastic day and Unavale Yineyards out did themselves once again putting on this event.

We are here to serve the island with a good reliable bus service. At present we are operating with a 24 seat belted, air conditioned coach and a 27 seat bus. (Yes if you’ve seen the 27 seater around you know it is only a bus but we brought it with us as a back up for the unforseen problems in transport.) Our future plans are to upgrade this as work demands.

We have a 49 seat coach to bring to the island once we have built sheds to house our vehicles in.

Latest news from us is we have been approved to operate a taxi service on the island which will be coming into service in the oncoming weeks. This service will be for the whole island.

BOOKINGS:

For a seat on any of the buses mentioned above call Mick or Trish to reserve a seat and to help us with bus numbers. If insufficient numbers buses may not be running.

Vehicles also available for charter for private events, weddings, parties etc.

We are open for ideas for any other events that you think would benefit with a bus.
