Royal Flying Doctors Service

On Friday 4th July the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS), opened the new shed on Flinders Island. The shed will be used to transport patients from the ambulance to the plane, so to keep them out of the weather and public view from the airport terminal.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia  is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. RFDS has been serving Australian communities for over 85 years. From humble beginnings in 1928, the RFDS now has a fleet of 63 aircraft operating from 21 bases around the country.

The RFDS is a not-for-profit organisation and whilst supported by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments, relies heavily on fundraising initiatives to finance the purchase and medical fit-out of our aircraft and other major capital initiatives.
