Up up and away Flinders Island

“Up up and Away – An Aerial Exhibition” by Flinders Island Artists

Visitors to the Sharp Airline Terminal in Launceston now have a lot more to look at while waiting to board their flights. A new exhibition by 10 artist from Flinders Island was recently installed. The exhibition contains something for everyone – from painting depicting aerial views of Whitemark and Badger Corner to more abstract mixed media representation taking a musical / intergalactic view. The exhibition also includes works constructed from found materials washed up on Flinders Island beaches. The artists recently participated in a Professional Development Project funded by the Australian Regional Arts Fund. They worked with arts mentor Josie Hurst to further develop their artistic and professional skills with a view to eventually having a touring exhibition of Flinders Island Artists work

Artists represented includes:

Rachel Dallas, Bron Grutzner, Jon Hizzard, Helen Haines, Jadwiga Lipska, Sandro Donati, Annabel Apps, Dale Williams, Anne Davis and Maria La Grue.

The Flinders Island Branch is proud to have Sharp Airlines as a generous sponsor of their activities and work. The collection is curated  by local artist.
